About NSC

The Northbridge Sailing Club is home for some four hundred members who sail regularly, a fun social club and a safe place to sail. Members vary from the laid back to the highly competitive, whilst ages range from 7 to 75.

Everyone is welcome to join the club. Classes and lessons are available for beginners and there are plenty of people eager to help you get started.

Boat Storage

The Club offers onsite storage in racks for a limited number of boats, and there sometimes is a waiting list.  Storage is available for Tasars, Lasers, Ants, Northbridge Juniors and Optimists at the Clive Park boatshed, whilst Moths and NS14s can be stored at Seaforth.

Many members prefer to trailer their boats to the Club each Sunday, and there is always a large number of willing hands to assist in bring the boats from the car park to the deck.  Hoses and buckets are available for washing boats down at the end of sailing, and power is available when boat maintenance needs to be done on site.

Canteen

A Canteen operates on Sundays, manned on a roster basis by sailing families.  Sandwiches, soft drinks, pies and a variety of chocolate flavoured "energy foods" are available for sale.  The canteen / kitchen is upstairs in the main club area, which offers picture perfect window views over the deck, Sailors Bay and Middle Harbour to Seaforth and beyond.  No better place to spend a Sunday morning when the junior sailing / training is run.

Changing Facilities

The Club offers separate changing rooms for males and females, both recently refurbished.

Beach & Park

Nearby Clive Park has a small sheltered beach suitable for small children to splash safely.  The Park, accessible from the end of Sailors Bay Road as well as the Club car park,  offers swings and picnic grounds, and pleasant views over the sailing courses.  Non sailing family members often while away a few hours while the rest of family is sailing nearby.

Safety

Safety is very important at the Club.  All sailors must be competent swimmers and wear personal flotation devices (as life jackets are known) when sailing or on a rescue boat.  All rescue boats are equipped with two-way radios that communicate with the starter back at the Club.  There are four rescue boats available, including a fast rescue boat, the appropriately named "Retriever", that can race across the bay in a few minutes.  The smaller "tinnies" are more than suitable for assisting younger sailors on NJs and Optimists as their small size and maneuverability allows them to get in close to small sailing boats.  Members are encouraged to get their power boat licences, and the Club offers subsidised Safety Boat training to members on a regular basis.  In strong winds, racing may be cancelled, or sailors advised to consider their experience before venturing onto the water.
