JUNIOR LEARN TO RACE
The training scheme at Northbridge Sailing Club Sailing School provides sailing dinghy training from beginner to racing. Students should be able to swim confidently (without panic). The Learn to Sail journey is a beginners event, booked separately.
This is for continuers. This fee can be paid when renewing memebrship, as an "ADD ON" fee, or booked here if you missed doing that.
Participants are expected to have been in the Learn to Sail the prior year, or joined during the Live In intensive and continued until the end of last season.
If you have picked up the basics elsewhere you may be suited to this course.
You need your own Opti to join this course.
There are three steams according to ability, with some overlap. You don't need to choose.
Staring at 9.30 with boats rigged by 10.00am, there is on water practice following by racing with an 11.30 start (no race entry fee needed).
The F11 (Flying 11) stream is for larger juniors or tweens growing into a larger two handed dinghy, with the thrill (and complexity) of spinnakers.
Before you know it, someone will be asking "Can I go to a regatta?" This is our objective, as racing improves skills very quickly, and our Opti Speciliats Clinic caters for higher performance coaching.
To join the course you must first be members of the club; go to Membership and sign up at least one responsible Adult member and the child or children who wish to enrol. You will receive an Australian Sailing number and member log in details if you are a new member, needed to sign up for this course. Sign up the children in this course, so we have the correct names!
Course fee: $430 per person. This covers the whole season.
