Event information

The Live-In is 5 days of sailing during the day, and a giant (parent supervised) sleepover for 4 nights. Throughout the week, sailors get to hone in on their sailing skills while being taught by our fabulous volunteer instructors. With evening activities, nightly movies and shared meals (classic NSC community style) the week is the annual highlight for our young members.

Parents Roster

As a volunteer run camp, Parents are also part of the experience! Once your child is enrolled, there is a parents roster for all catering, housekeeping and boat lifting duties for you to join. Even if you are working, there are roles that suit all schedules.   Roles are briefly described on the linked form, if you have any questions any Live In veteran will know the answer.

The link to the parent roster is here.    Please assign yourself 10 points per child.

Working With Children Check is required for any adult working at the Live-In.   This requirement has changed this year.    Initiate the process online here it will require a single visit to a Service NSW centre and it can take four weeks to come through.   It is free for volunteers.   You must advise the club the number and expiry date.   If you already have a certificate just complete the relevant field in the Live-In application form.     Get one; you will need it in some other group, somewhere, sooner or later.

Boat

Most children need to have access to their own boat. An exception is for the new Learn-to-Sail intake participants who will be using club boats.

At the time of writing there are Optimists for sale at the club for any members who have been through the Learn To Sail programs and have not yet acquired a boat.   Links Here  Contact Gus Kernot, Sailing School Principal on training@nsc.asn.au.

Please ensure your child's boat is in full working order BEFORE the Live-In.

All equipment (spars, foils), should be clearly labelled with boat name and number.

The boat must be insured for sailing. Generally the easiest/cheapest insurance is available through Australian Sailing (Network Insurance Group) – can be done online.
